Walking the Talk

Solve your social media conundrum whilst helping your mental health.
Social Media Walking the Talk
‘Paddle & Talk’ Social Media Power Hour

Walking and talking all things Social Media: a great combo!  This is how I spent an hour of my day yesterday, a power hour walk and talk with a lovely lady who runs a very successful AirBnB business in the Cotswolds.

We started by grabbing a coffee from the local farm shop and cafe and then we marched around the local Cotswold countryside. We crossed main roads, canals and railway lines and all the while she picked my brains on the best ways to market her gorgeous Airbnb cottage via Instagram. At some points, I had to stop talking as the hills were soooo steep (note to self: must get fitter). We talked about posting strategy, how to increase engagement with her account, how to make the most of a superstar influencer staying with her (let’s hope it happens again), how to make the best use of stories and I left her with a challenge. (Looking forward to her first Reel). It was great to be out and about and I love swapping a zoom call for a walk.

I love Walk and Talk Power Hours and I’ve done quite a few during lockdown. They are a great way to get out into nature, which is great for mental health and the conversation flows better. I generally find that clients who I meet face-to-face or via Zoom have a list of questions that need answering and when we get to the end of that list they head off on their way. With the Walk and Talk Power Hours we cover the list of questions but so many other ideas and questions come up as we meander on our way. It’s more relaxed and one client said that she didn’t understand why but she didn’t feel as silly asking me questions when we were wandering along the river bank but she would have done if via Zoom.

I’m starting to think that this could be something that I develop beyond lockdown. We could head out on the Paddleboards and talk while the sun rises in the summer or we could even Talk and Swim. So many possibilities: what do you think? What social media topics would you like to cover if we went for a walk?
