Paddle, Pedal, Post: A Guide to Elevating Your Sports Brand on Social Media
Numbers are down, the weather isnโt really helping so letโs look at how we can get more people through your door via your social media to elevate your sports brand.ย Let’s dive into how we can get better engagement on all platforms, but specifically LinkedIn and Instagram.

Top Tips:
- First and foremost, identify your goal. Do you aim to boost brand awareness among the water sports community or perhaps cyclists? Or are you trying to get more engagement and therefore feedback on a new paddle board design? Understanding your objectives will help steer your strategy in the right direction.
- Moving on to content, it’s all about standing out from the crowd. Your posts should be as vibrant as the scenery around you. Visuals are your best ally here. Real images stand out much better than stock ones, take your camera / phone with you to every training session or event and get snapping! And don’t forget to sprinkle in some fun with GIFs and emojis ๐.
- Authenticity is key. Share your journey, from the thrill of that perfect sunrise swim, to the sweat and determination during a training session or Sportif. People connect with real experiences, so don’t hesitate to share yours, including the occasional wipeout or flat tyre!
- When it comes to trends, donโt get left behind! If there’s a meme that’s taking the internet by storm, join the fun. Remember the mannequin challenge? So many businesses, clubs and sports organisations joined the conversation with a number of them going viral. Make them your own.
- Hashtags are your guiding stars. They lead your audience to you. Be tactical with your hashtag use and stand out from the competition.
- Engagement should be a two-way street. Make it fun for your followers by turning your posts into games or contests. Perhaps a photo contest of the most beautiful swimming spot or a giveaway for a new bike helmet. Something you know your followers will want to get involved with and help spread awareness of who you are.ย
- Lastly, clarity is crucial. Your posts should be as clear as the water you play on or in. Break long text into digestible points and use emojis or symbols to add a dash of fun and engagement.
